A GOOD LISTENER

The first thing we want to speak of is an ability to listen to others. A worker of the Lord must build up the habit in his daily life of listening to others. I do not mean that he should listen to others in the sense of obeying them. I mean that he should listen to others in the sense of being able to hear what they are saying and to understand what he has heard. There is a great need for this trait to be built up in a worker’s personal life. No worker of the Lord can do a good job if he can only speak to others but cannot listen to them. A worker is of little use to God if he can only speak to others, if he can only blast incessantly at others like a firecracker. No worker of the Lord can be an incessant talker. If he can only speak to others, but cannot listen to them and realize their problems through conversation, his usefulness is very limited.

다른 사람의 말을 잘 들어야 함

우리가 제일 먼저 언급하고자하는 것은 다른사람의 말을 잘 알아 들을 수 있어야 한다는 것이다. 주님의 일을 하는 사람은 그 개인의 생활 속에 반드시 하나의 습성이 있어야 하는데, 그것은 바로 다른 사람의 말을 잘 알아 들을 줄 아는 것이다. 이것은 순복하여서 말을 듣는 것이 아니라, 함께 앉아서 다른 사람의 말을 듣고 그것을 이해할 수 있는 것을 말하는 것이다. 이것은 주님의 일을 하는 사람의 개인 생활에 있어서 하나의 중대한 필요이다. 만약 어떤 사람이 줄곧 자기만 말하고 다른 사람이 말하는 것을 들어줄 줄 모른다면, 그는 일을 잘 해낼 수 없다. 만약사역자가 마치 폭죽을 터뜨리듯이 혼자서 계속해서 말한다면, 이러한 사역자는 하나님의 손에 별 쓸모가 없다 어떤 사역자도 계속 말할수 없다. 만약 당신이 항상 자신의 말만하고 다른 사람의 말을 듣기를 즐겨하지 않는다면, 당신에게 와서 당신과 함께 이야기하는 사람은 결국 난처해지게 되고 그 때에 당신은 아무런 쓸모도 없게 된다.
