Job and the Light of God

Job was a righteous man. This was God's remark about him. During the time of his suffering, his three friends thought that he had sinned and had offended God. But he himself had denied this and used great efforts to argue with them to prove that he was clean and righteous. We all know that when God revealed Himself to him the Bible recorded it and said: "I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear;/but now mine eye seeth thee:/ wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes"(Job 42:5-6). When the light of God came, he realized how despicable he was. The words of man could not make him to reprove himself, but the light of God caused him to be humble.

욥과 하나님의 빛

욥은 의로웠다. 하나님께서도 그렇게 말씀하셨다. 그가 시험을 받을 때, 그의 세 친구들은 그가 하나님께 범죄하였음이 틀림없다고 하였다. 욥 자신은 동의하지 않고 그들과 많은 시간을 허비하며 논쟁하였다. 그 자신의 순결함과 의로움을 증명하고자 그리하였다. 우리가 알 듯이 하나님께서 그에게 나타나셨을 때 성경에 기록되기를 『내가 주께 대하여 귀로 듣기만 하였삽더니 이제는 눈으로 주를 뵈옵나이다. 그러므로 내가 스스로 한하고 티끌과 재 가운데서 회개하나이다』( 욥 42:5,6 )라고 고백하였다. 마침내 하나님의 빛이 이르자 그가 실로 얼마나 소름끼치는 자인지 알게 되었다. 사람의 말로 그를 정죄할 수는 없었으나, 하나님의 빛이 그를 겸손하게 하였다.
